About
Before we get too into this I’m gonna go ahead and give a little bit of information about me, my current living situation and my history with animals.
My current apartment doesn’t allow me to have pets, which is a real bummer for me because I love animals. I had a cat when I was younger, she was my best friend. I remember teaching her how to climb up the ladder to my bunk bed, she would fall asleep with me at the head of my bed at night when I would go to sleep. Whenever my girlfriend (at the time, now wife) would sit next to me the cat would sit on her just to be closer to me than she was, I found that very entertaining. But unfortunately, life goes on and she didn’t live forever.
So me and the wife found ourselves at a pet store. On a whim, we were browsing the small pets they had to offer. We looked at the fish and checked out the hamsters, and then we saw the birds. My family had a bird when I was really young, well before I had my cat, and I don’t really remember much of it.
But I was looking at these birds and I saw that they had finches and parakeets (also known as budgies). They’re cute, they’re cheap, and I figured such a small animal like that wouldn’t need a whole lot to take care of it. Remember, I was used to how cats worked, and how they kinda just really do whatever they want, when you’re not around they’ll just play with stuff and run around the house at night, (…in the middle of the night). You gotta make sure to have a bowl of food and some water out for them, buy a few toys occasionally, and there you go that’s a cat, easy to take care of.
So I bought a budgie, and I named her Bluefull (the name is a reference to an old Dreamcast game called “Phantasy Star Online”).
When I got home, I started looking up some basic information of how to take care of a budgie. And I found out very quickly that there’s a lot to know when it comes to these wonderful little birds.
I really feel like budgies need more care than most people really understand. They’re super intelligent creatures and if you take care of them and love them, they will love you back unconditionally.
That’s the reason for this website about taking care of budgies. I plan on doing semi-regular updates with a bunch of information about how to care for them, and what they need to live a long and healthy life!
See you in future posts! 🙂
